Pharmacist positions are filled by pharmacists who provide care for pharmaceutical products and medications, and are responsible for the administration of pharmaceutical products to patients and their families.

Pharmacist openings in the United States, as of December 31, 2019, are expected to remain relatively stable over the next year, according to the American Pharmacists Association (APA).

The job openings are expected remain below the average of the past five years.

While pharmacist positions in the U.S. are expected in the higher-paying fields of pharmacy, nursing and dentistry, APA said that the pharmacist position in California remains relatively weak.

There are currently 531 openings for the position, compared to 1,049 openings in California, according the APA.

There is also a shortage of nurses, dentists and pharmacists in the state.

According to the APAs website, pharmacist pay ranges from $17 to $34 per hour, and the average starting salary is $48,000.

This year, the salary ranges will be up to $64,000, according APA data.

In 2019, the median starting salary for a pharmacist in California is $62,000 compared to the $59,000 average salary for all employees in the country in 2019 according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

There were approximately 1.8 million pharmacists employed in the US as of September 2019.
